Capitalism, the anti-libertarianism

In his interview with Antiwar.com on the issue of the Imperial United States of America and its antagonism of the Russians, Sheldon Richman further contributed a most excellent address on the issue of capitalism and its ultimate nature as an antithetical principle to libertarianism. Pointing out the fact that capitalism has always meant state support for the rich at the very real costs of the poor, Sheldon conveys, quite plainly, that the rightist conservative alliance many compromised libertarians have bought into is a great contributing factor in the failure of the libertarian movement within the United States.

Taking our great friend’s words to heart, I think we, as left libertarians, need to take this opportunity that contemporary highlights have awarded us to separate ourselves utterly and completely from the conservative blight that has darkened the doors of liberty for too long.

It is a simple fact, the conservatives will not budge on their love for hegemonic hierarchies of capital and exploitation. Why should we attempt to find any solidarity with them then? The significant problems of inequality, intolerance, and Toryism being unavoidable with the implication of “right libertarianism,” it is an absolute necessity to point out to others these flaws while adding, “Yup. And that’s why I’m a left libertarian.”

*Note: This does not mean we cannot work with these modern day Tories, but merely that we must always remember to add this annotation of our purity in libertarian principle as leftist radicals fighting against their proposed system of patriarchy, ethnic hegemony, and conservatism.
